Take a Towel – Traditional Sauna at Kukkolaforsen
Thursdays 18 June–6 August, 3–6 pm
Every Thursday during the summer, our sauna area is open at Kukkolaforsen. You are warmly invited to enjoy a long and relaxing sauna experience rooted in Tornedalian tradition – just as it has been for generations.
On many sauna days, representatives from the Swedish Sauna Academy are present, sharing insights into the role and cultural significance of sauna in the Tornio Valley. For a deeper experience, we recommend combining your visit with an overnight stay.
You will have access to several different saunas, including Sweden’s largest smoke sauna, a VIP sauna, village sauna, greenhouse sauna, traditional family sauna and the smaller Svante’s smoke sauna. Between sauna sessions, you can relax in the hot tub or cool off with a refreshing swim in the River Torne from Kukkolan beach.
Drinks and simple dishes are available for purchase on site.
We also recommend booking a table in our restaurant after your sauna for a calm and enjoyable end to the evening.
Children under 18 are welcome free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult.
And remember – bring your towel.
